Yogagate: The Downward Dogwhistle Story

Takeaway: White people around the world make fun of the idea of cultural appropriation in yoga. They do it with arguments that ignore South Asian voices. In the process, they obscure the issues with which cultural appropriation intersects: examinations of white middle-class privilege, structural racism in yoga and meditation spaces, cultural inequality, accessibility issues, and the creation of safer space.
