- To improve my website (I continually strive to improve my website offerings based on the information and feedback received from you)
- To improve customer service (your information helps me to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs)
- To process transactions
Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested.
When visitors leave comments on my site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
My site’s contact form will collect your name and email address. I will use this information to respond to your inquiry, questions, and/or other requests. I generally store contact form information for as long as I need it to track and respond to your request. I do not use the information submitted through contact forms for marketing purposes.
If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on my site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
What we share with others
My site shares information with third parties who help provide orders and store services to you.
I accept payments through Paypal. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to Paypal, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.
I may use information in the aggregate to understand how users as a group use the services and resources provided on my site.
I use the analytics package provided by Google Analytics. Find out how Google uses data when you use partner sites or apps here.
I am a strong supporter of the new Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and take your privacy very seriously. All information provided while subscribing to my e-newsletter will be used solely to communicate updates on my books, articles, workshops, and teaching schedule. No information about specific individuals will ever be rented, shared or sold for commercial purposes. By submitting your email address, you grant me explicit consent to send you e-newsletters as detailed above. You may withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link, found at the foot of every email that I send to you. You may also withdraw consent by sending an email request to: threadsofyoga[at]gmail.com
How long I retain your data
I generally store information about you for as long as I need the information for the purposes for which I collect and use it, and am not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, I will store order information for 10 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to this site. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
How we protect your information
I adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on my site.
All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.
After a transaction, your private information will not be stored on our servers.
Sharing your Personal Data
I do not sell, trade, or rent any personal information to others. I may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with my business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above. I use third-party service providers to help me operate my business and my site or administer activities on my behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. I may share your information with these third parties for those limited purposes provided that you have given me your permission.

You may find content on my site that links to the sites and services of other third parties. These websites may operate independently from me and may have their own privacy notices or policies, which I strongly suggest you review. If any linked website is not owned or controlled by me, I am not responsible for its content, any use of the website or the privacy practices of the operator of the website.
